New Delhi: Slowly, the storm is becoming stronger. Four people have died and 73 villages have been affected in separate incidents in coastal and central Karnataka due to heavy rains and strong winds caused by the cyclone during the last 24 hours in Karnataka. Hundreds of homes have been damaged. Hundreds of people have also been evacuated from the affected areas. At the same time, normal life has become disrupted due to cyclonic storm in Goa. Due to strong winds and heavy rains, electric wires fell and pillars were uprooted, causing lightning in many areas, uprooting many trees under which a person was killed.
A person died due to heavy rains and falling trees due to the cyclone storm in Goa. It is being told that the victim Sheetal Patil (34) was injured by falling of a coconut tree in Anjuna, who later died. State Energy Minister Nilesh Kabral said that due to the strong winds in many areas of the state, the power lines have been broken, due to which the power has gone down.
The NDRF has placed 79 teams on stand by positions for relief work amid conditions arising due to the storm. Apart from this, 22 additional teams have also been arranged. In addition to the NDRF, teams of Army, Navy and Coast Guard forces have also been engaged in relief operations along with water ships and aircrafts.
