Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Thursday praised the Yogi Adityanath government for controlling the spread of coronavirus in the state and taking strict actions against the mafias and criminals.
The government has accomplished the successful inauguration of the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya by Prime Minister Narendra Modi while a grand tableau of UP title Ayodhya: Cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh” on the occasion of Republic Day was awarded the first place in the country, she said.
Addressing the joint session of the state legislature on the opening day of the Budget session, the Governor said that besides effectively controlling the spread of the virus, the government also brought back around 4 million migrants stranded in other states amid the pandemic. Sugar mills operated despite the situation prevailing due to the pandemic in the state, she said.
The Governor said that the Covid testing went up to 2 lakh per day from zero by setting up 229 laboratories in the public and private sector while 1.5 lakh beds were arranged for the patients.
As many as 1019 criminal and mafias have been arrested and several others have surrendered in the courts and their illegal property worth over Rs 1000 crores have been seized or demolished. Arm licences of the mafias have been cancelled and action for seizing and demolishing illegal properties has also been carried out, she said.
