Chaudhary had left the BSP in June, shortly after his son Anand Chaudhary was named an SP contender for the position of district panchayat chairman. Chaudhary was a member of the Samajwadi Party before joining the BSP. After being expelled from the BSP in 2010, Mukhtar Ansari and his brother Afzal Ansari established Quami Ekta Dal with his brothers, which merged with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in 2016.
