Mathura: Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act against four people, including a journalist from Kerala. The four were arrested in Mathura on their way to Hathras. He is the operator of the website Carrd.co, a journalist going to meet the victim’s family. Questions are arising regarding the funding of the website. According to the information received, the funding of the website is not transparent. It was also used in provoking riots.
According to the FIR lodged against the four by the UP police, the four were arrested on Monday night when they were going to Hathras to meet the victim’s family. The journalist is connected to the famous Kerala website Carrd.co. Allegedly, a link to this website is being told from the Popular Front of India (PFI). The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh wants to ban this organization.
According to the FIR, the names of those arrested are Atiq-ur-Rehman, Siddiqui Kappan, Masood Ahmed and Alam. The financial account of the website run by them is not transparent. It was being done in the direction of provoking riots. Police said that they had received information that some suspicious people were going to Hathras from Delhi. All four were stopped near the toll gate of Mathura.
The police have seized his mobile phone, laptop and some literature recovered from him which could hamper the peace and law and order of the state. Police say that during interrogation, the accused confessed to having links with PFI and its associate organization Campus Front of India. According to the FIR, some pamphlets have also been found from the accused, on which it is written – ‘I am not the daughter of India’.
