Farmers call off Feb 1 march to Parliament

New Delhi: Farmers’ organizations agitating against the agricultural law are on the backfoot after the violence in the tractor parade. Farmers’ organizations have announced to postpone the proposed Parliament march on 1 February. On Wednesday, Balbir Rajewal of the farmer leader Bharatiya Kisan Union (R) on the Singhu border announced the postponement of the Parliament march. On 30th January, he will observe a day fast on Martyrdom Day and will hold public rallies all over India. The next schedule will be decided at the next meeting.

Balbir Singh Rajewal said that the farmers’ parade was the victim of government intrigue. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha distanced itself from the violent incidents in Delhi and also said that Deep Sidhu is an agent of RSS. Deep Sidhu insulted the tricolor by placing a religious flag on the Red Fort and hurt our feelings towards the country.

Accusing the government of trying to break the agitation under the conspiracy, Rajewal said that the farmers had agitated peacefully. We had prepared five routes for the Republic Day tractor parade. He said, “I apologize to the country on behalf of the Kisan Morcha. Yesterday organized the Kisan Parade, it was historic in itself. We came here on 26 November and there was no problem.

Rakesh Tikait, national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, said that the movement will continue. All people will continue to do langars and bhandaras. The youth need not be afraid, the police administration is guilty for yesterday’s incident. They said that if the incident happened yesterday, the police administration has been responsible for it. Someone reaches the Red Fort and not a single shot of the police is fired. It was a conspiracy to discredit the peasant organization, the peasant movement would continue.

Swaraj India President Yogendra Yadav said that we appeal most to the social boycott of Deep Sidhu. The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti and Deep Sidhu are responsible for tomorrow’s violence. We asked everyone to come back to their place as soon as the violence happened. Everyone saw that the photo of Deep Sidhu is with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, the whole truth should come before the country. He said that we regret the incident of Lal Qila and we accept its moral responsibility.
