New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested 44 people, including the person who attacked SHO Alipur, in the violence that took place on Friday afternoon on the Singhu border. A criminal case has been registered and investigation has been initiated under various sections including attempt to murder at Alipur Police Station in Delhi.
A senior police officer said that accused Ranjit Singh, resident of Kazampur and PS Rahu, 22, attacked SHO Alipur with a sword. They have been arrested from the spot.
On Friday, farmers on the Singhu border in Delhi became fiercely angry between protesters and other protesters. The two factions were stoned and attacked each other. Local protesters had been demonstrating against the agitators since Friday morning and there was a demand to vacate the highway. During this period, farmers’ tents were also uprooted. The police resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells to control the situation following the uproar, during which SHO of Alipur police station Pradeep Paliwal was injured. Some farmers have also been injured in this clash.
