The Electoral Directorate (ED) visited the home of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey in Mohali on Tuesday morning, January 18 in connection with an illegal sand mining case.

Officials from the federal agency are investigating at least 10-12 locations around the state, and the action is being carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It is also claimed that several people with political ties were investigated.

After Amarinder Singh was forced to retire in September of last year, the Congress chose Channi as Punjab Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Punjab’s 117 Assembly seats will be voted for on February 20, and the results will be counted on March 10.
