New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today described one nation-one election as the need of the country and said that at different times, the expenses increase due to elections, development works are also affected.
Mr. Modi, while addressing the concluding session of the 80th All India Conference of Presiding Officers in Kevadia, Gujarat, said through video conferencing, “One of the important topics is about elections. One Nation One Election is not just a matter of discussion, but it is the need of India. Every few months there are big elections happening somewhere in India. You are well aware of the impact it has on development works. In such a situation, intensive study and brainstorming on One Nation One Election is necessary. ”
He said that the presiding officers can take guidance and initiative in this. For this, a single voter list should be made for Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha or Panchayat elections. He said, “For this, we have to first make way. Today there are different voter lists for everyone, why are we spending, why are we wasting time. Now it is fixed for everyone above 18 years. Earlier there was a difference in age, so it was a little different, now there is no need. “
