Mumbai: After the resignation of Anil Deshmukh, senior Nationalist Congress Party leader Dilip Valsay Patil was given the charge of Maharashtra’s Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday. Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh resigned from his post on Monday after the High Court ordered a CBI inquiry on extortion charges of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh.
The Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray sent the resignation of Anil Deshmukh to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and requested it to be accepted. Also, the Chief Minister mentioned in the letter to hand over the charge of Home Department to Valse Patil.
