New Delhi: Eight MPs who created uproar in the Rajya Sabha have been suspended for a week during the discussion on agricultural bills. He has also rejected the no-confidence motion by the opposition parties against the Deputy Chairman.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said that Derek O’Brien, Sanjay Singh, Rajiv Satav, K.K. Ragesh, Ripun Bora, Dola Sen, Syed Nazir Hussain and Elamram Karim are suspended from the House for a week.

Amid the uproar by opposition parties, the Rajya Sabha on Sunday approved the Agricultural Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill-2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance Agreement and Agreement on Agricultural Services Bill-2020. Both these Bills have already been approved in the Lok Sabha.
At the same time, the opposition alleges that the Deputy Speaker ignored the rules of the House. On Sunday, 12 parties of the opposition against Deputy Chairman Harivansh gave notice of the no-confidence motion against the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. However, the Speaker rejected it. Opposition MPs allege that the Deputy Speaker ignored the opposition’s request to stop the functioning of the House and two Agriculture Bills were passed in the House. The parties who have given notice against the Deputy Chairman include Congress, TMC, Samajwadi Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, NCP, RJD, DMK, Aam Aadmi Party.
