Chennai. Cyclonic storm ‘Nirvana’ will hit the coast between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 12 hours in a very grueling midnight Wednesday or Thursday. The India Meteorological Department gave this information. Meanwhile, the government has said that the lake water will be released due to the possibility of excess water in the Chamberambakkam lake.
On Wednesday, the bulletin issued by IMD said, “There is a strong possibility that the cyclonic storm will take a very ghastly form in the next 12 hours. It is expected to move northwest and hit the coast between Karaikal and Mamallapuram between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the early hours of November 25 or early November 26. The speed of the storm will be 120–130 kmph, which may increase to 145 kmph. ”
There was overnight rain in Chennai and surrounding areas and waterlogging occurred in the lower places. In view of the threat of cyclone, Tamil Nadu has declared a holiday on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the officials of the Public Works Department said that one thousand cusecs of water will be released from the Chamberambakkam lake as the water is nearing its maximum level. He said that the water would be released from 12 noon.
