Due to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Mumbai, trees in Nariman Point and Kala Chowki areas have been uprooted and many vehicles have been damaged. Meteorologists say that after 129 years, a cyclone is coming to Mumbai. According to IMD, there is a possibility of landslides in the state due to the cyclone.

The maximum effect of Nisarga cyclone is seen in Raigarh, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts. Strong winds have caused havoc in many places, trees have been uprooted from place to place and power supply has also been affected. At least ten sailors were rescued on Wednesday from a vessel stranded near the coast of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra due to cyclonic storms. An official gave this information. He said that due to high tide and heavy rains, the vessel had gone off the coast of Mirakwara from where the sailors were safely rescued.

Amidst the threat posed by the cyclone ‘Nature’, many senior citizens have recalled the devastation caused by the 1948 hurricane in Mumbai. The storm ‘Nisarg’ is likely to hit the coast near Alibaug on Wednesday. The elders said that the 1948 storm had caused widespread devastation. At that time there was heavy rain and strong winds had uprooted trees at various places.
