The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that cyclonic storm Gulab will hit the coasts of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh this evening. The cyclonic storm over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal had moved nearly westwards and lay centered over northwest and adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal at around 5.30 a.m. on September 26, according to the latest update from the IMD.

“Cloud structure predicts consolidation and hence mild intensification in the next 6hr,” Skymet Weather said in a recent tweet. The storm’s classification as a ‘Tropical Storm’ will be maintained by its warm sea surface temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and vigorous outflow.”
The hashtag ‘CycloneGulab’ was also used. In Vizag, Andhra Pradesh, the district government has built up 24/7 control rooms at several locations, including one in the District Collector’s office. The Coast Guard SAR service has provided a toll-free contact number, 1554, for any emergency or help at sea during the cyclonic storm.

The list of trains that have been canceled, diverted, or short-terminated due to Cyclonic Storm Gulab was also tweeted by East Coast Railway. After Tauktae and Yaas, which developed in May of this year, this is the third cyclone of 2021.
