Lucknow: Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in Lucknow today that credibility is the identity of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Rajnath Singh was addressing the one-day executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday.

On this occasion, he said, “Credibility is of special importance in political life. Every word of the leaders has its weight and it is his responsibility to fulfill the promises made to the public as it is a question of his own and the credibility of the party. ”

“I appeal to the farmers to end their agitation. All the contentious issues can be resolved through dialogue. The government has clarified a number of times that MSP will not be scrapped. They (farmers) should come and discuss their problems with the government and we are open to their suggestions,” Singh said while inaugurating the one-day state working committee meeting of the BJP here on Monday.

He said the BJP government is committed to double the income of farmers. This assurance has come from none other than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “No one can question the commitment of the Prime Minister towards betterment of farmers. He had promised Rs 6000 to farmers and the same has been fulfilled,” he said.

The farmers are staging protests for over 100 days demanding three farm laws namely Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act. The three farm laws have been projected by the government as major reforms in the agriculture sector to remove middlemen and allow farmers to sell anywhere in the country. The government projected the laws as an antidote to lowering demands caused by the pandemic.
