Covaxin no longer in ‘clinical trial mode’, consent form will not be required for vaccination

New Delhi: Information is being received that Covaxin is no longer in clinical trial mode. Consent letter will no longer be necessary for its vaccination. The Subject Expert Committee, which is monitoring the development of the vaccine, has recommended this to the country’s drugs regulator DCGI.

According to the committee, people are not required to sign a consent form to take the vaccine if the Covaxin is no longer administered under the clinical trial mode. The committee recommended allowing covaxin to be used for emergency use after the data of the third trial. During the clinical trial mode of vaccine, people who are vaccinated are required to sign a consent form.

A research paper published in the famous medical science research journal Lancet states that the Covaxin vaccine for coronavirus made under self-reliant India is safe, but the effectiveness of the results of its Phase III clinical trial needs to be analyzed.
