Lucknow: For the first time, it is not only policemen who are on duty for the security of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) after polls. It is the political parties even, who have deployed their supporters and workers for this job. They are at the counting centers and performing the job tirelessly. Counting centers converted into monitoring centers.
In Lucknow, the counting of the votes will be at Ramabai Ambedkar Rally Place. The scene, one night before the counting is like a fare there. Candidates with their supporters are under the shed and have their eyes on everyone who is entering the premises.

Many people are nearby the screen of the CCTVs that are fixed by the administration outside the strong room. People don’t have faith in the administration and even the people who are on duty to maintain the security of the EVMs. One of the SP’s supporters, Rajeev Srivastava says, the people who are on duty here is not at fault by their will. If they get orders from their seniors then, they will have to keep their eyes shut on the mishaps. That’s why we are here. We are the power to them.

People in black coats are also at the counting centers: At the Ramabai Ambedkar rally place, many people in black coats are also seen. They have been fielded by the Samajwadi Party. One among such, Gautam Dubey says we have been placed here to have an eye on the situation. If any legal action needs to be taken, we will go for it in no time.

People use to hail slogans, sometimes songs: Once ‘Gau Rakshak’ was the word very much popular. They were said to the supporters of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Now this time the word is coined as ‘EVM Rakshak’. They are the workers and supporters of the opposition parties, mainly SP. The people who are at work here, sometimes hail the slogan of Akhilesh Yadav Zindabad and sometimes they may be heard singing the song, Hum dekhenge…!
