New Delhi: Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi made a new beginning by ignoring the old party traditions, by making the Chief Ministers an observer of the contested states for the first time in the history of the party.
She announced the names of party observers for the elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been appointed as supervisor of Assam, along with Mukul Wasnik, Shakeel Ahmad Khan has also been assigned the responsibility of Assam.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been given the responsibility of Kerala along with Luizinho Faleiro and G. Parameshwara. Veerappa Moily, MM Pallam Raju in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and BK Hariprasad, Alamgir Alam, Vijay Inder Singla in West Bengal have been given responsibility as observers.
