Congress and BJP Battle it Out at Karnataka

Siddaramaiah, the former chief minister of Karnataka and a prominent Congress leader, accused the BJP of handing out Rs 2,000 to each voter in the bypoll-bound Sindagi and Hangal assembly constituencies on Thursday. “As far as I’m aware, a substantial sum of money is being spent. Siddaramaiah stated, “According to intelligence, Rs 2,000 is given each vote.”

D K Shivakumar, the state Congress president, has claimed that the governing BJP is distributing Rs 2,000 per vote. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai hit out at Congress leaders over the accusation, accusing them of engaging in such activities and claiming that the BJP’s strength in winning elections was the people’s love and trust.

“During the bypolls to Kundgol, Gundlupet, and Nanjangud, we saw D K Shivakumar’s experience with sacks of money. “Now he’s attempting to pin that accusation on us,” Bommai added. Karnataka’s two assembly seats, which have been without elected legislators for several months due to the deaths of MLAs, will vote on October 30.

Byelections will be conducted in the Hanagal constituency in Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s home district of Haveri and the Sindgi electorate in the state’s Bijapur area. The death of longtime BJP politician C M Udasi, Bommai’s mentor, prompted the Hanagal bypoll, while the death of prominent JDS leader M C Managuli prompted the Sindgi bypoll. On November 2, the results of the bypolls will be announced.
