CM Yogi announced new population policy

Lucknow: On the occasion of World Population Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the Population Policy 2021-30. State Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh was also present during this. For population control in UP, the State Law Commission has prepared the draft Population Control Bill-2021. Many proposals have been made in this draft to check the increasing population.

Releasing the new policy, the Chief Minister said that concern was expressed on the increasing population all over the world. He said that awareness is necessary for population control. The growing population was being discussed for several decades. The CM said that all sections of the society have been taken care of in the new policy. This will bring happiness in everyone’s life. The discussion on this was going on for the last four decades. On this occasion, he said that more efforts are necessary for population control. He said that increasing population is a hindrance in development.

He said that population policy is related to every citizen. Rising population is the cause of poverty. He said that there should also be a gap between two children. If there is not a good gap between two children then their nutrition will also be affected. CM Yogi said that poverty and growing population are related to each other. Population policy is not only concerned with population stabilization but also to bring the path of happiness and prosperity in the life of every citizen to his doorstep. We will make people aware about the increasing population. People will be made aware about this in schools and elsewhere.

According to this draft, a person with more than two children will not get the benefit of government schemes. That person will not be able to apply for government jobs or contest elections to any local body. The commission has sought public opinion by July 19.

It has been said in this draft that the ration card of a person with more than two children will be limited to four members and he will not be eligible to receive any kind of government subsidy. Within a year of the implementation of the law, all government employees and public representatives elected in the local body elections will have to give an affidavit that they will not violate the rule. If they give birth to a third child after giving the affidavit, then the draft has recommended stopping promotion and even dismissal of government employees. However, there is no bar on the adoption of a third child.

According to the draft, the government will give special facilities to the parents who follow the policy of maximum two children and have voluntary sterilization. Such government employees will get many facilities like two extra salary increment, promotion 12 months maternity or paternity leave, insurance coverage for spouse, exemption in government housing schemes, increase in employer contribution in PF. On the other hand, those who do not have government jobs, in the draft, it is proposed to provide many facilities like water, electricity, home tax, home loan.
