Haridwar: The Nainital High Court has banned the start of Chardham Yatra till June 22. A detailed affidavit has also been sought from the High Court regarding the rules of travel from the government. The next hearing will be on June 23.
Hearing a PIL, a division bench of Chief Justice Ravindra Singh Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma gave this order.
The Bench asked the government to submit a detailed affidavit regarding what rules have been made regarding the Chardham Yatra and what arrangements have been made. The division bench rejected the contention of Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar that due to the Chief Minister being out, the discussion on the rules could not take place.
The High Court said that the preparations should be finalized by holding an online meeting. The Bench has fixed June 23 as the next date of hearing, staying the start of Chardham Yatra till June 22.
