Center ready to suspend farm laws for a year and a half, farmer unions said – will consider the offer

New Delhi: The tenth round of talks took place today with the Center and farmer leaders. In this, the Center has agreed to suspend the new agricultural laws for one and a half years. Farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh said, 3 laws and MSP were discussed in the meeting. The government said that we will give affidavit of 3 laws to the Supreme Court and we will put a moratorium for 1-1.5 years. A committee will be formed which will decide the future of 3 laws and MSP. We said we will consider it. The farmers will reply to the proposal of the Center on 22 January.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who came out after the meeting, said, “Today our effort was to make a decision. The farmers union was on the demand for withdrawal of the law and the government was willing to consider and amend it as per the provisions of the law with an open mind. ” He said, “The Supreme Court has postponed farm laws for some time. The government is ready to postpone the implementation of the law even for 1-1.5 years. During this time, the farmers union and government should talk and find solutions. ”

He added, “I am happy that the farmer unions have taken it very seriously and said that we will consider the government’s proposal tomorrow with our leaders and will come to the meeting on 22 January at 12 noon and inform you of the decision.” “I think the talks are moving in the right direction and there is a possibility of a middle offer on 22 January,” he said.

Darshan Pal, leader of the Farmers Union, said, “The meeting discussed 3 laws and MSP.
