Team India lost the second Test match on the third day

Christchurch: The New Zealand cricket team defeated the Indian cricket team by 7 wickets on the third day in the second Test match played at Hegley Oval ground in Christchurch. After this win, New Zealand won the two-match Test series 2–0. New Zealand defeated the Indian team by 10 wickets in the first Test match played in Wellington.

New Zealand had earlier defeated the Indian cricket team 3–0 in the three-match ODI series, while the Indian team started the tour of New Zealand with a 5–0 win in the 5-match T20 series.

In the second Test match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first and restricted the Indian team to 242 runs. After this, Indian bowlers bowled brilliantly and gave New Zealand a lead of 7 runs, stopping New Zealand for 235 runs.

Indian batting flopped in the second innings and the entire team was all out for 124 runs and set a target of 132 runs to win in front of New Zealand. New Zealand easily achieved this target by losing 3 wickets before the tee break on the third day.

After a 2–0 win in the two-match Test series, the New Zealand cricket team secured 120 points at the ICC World Test Championship and moved up to number three in the points table with 180 points. Despite the second consecutive defeat, the Indian cricket team remains at number one and the team has 360 points.

The New Zealand team, chasing a target of 132 runs, got off to a brilliant start by Tom Blundell and Tom Latham and added 103 runs for the first wicket. Umesh Yadav got India the first success by dismissing Latham, but by then it was too late. Latham scored 52 runs off 74 balls with the help of 10 fours.

Jaspreet Bumrah then dismissed Kane Williamson, who returned to the pavilion for 5 runs. Bumrah also dismissed Tom Blundell, who scored 55 runs in 113 balls with the help of 8 fours and a six. After this Ross Taylor and Henry Nichols scored five not out to give New Zealand the victory.

Earlier, Indian batting also flopped in the second innings and the entire team was all out after scoring 124 runs. On the third day of the match, Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant started from 6 wickets for 90 runs, but the team’s score was only 7 runs that both batsmen were out. Vihari (9) was dismissed by Tim Southee, while Pant (4) was dismissed by Trent Boult.

After this Ravindra Jadeja tried to handle the innings, but he could not find any batsman and Mohammad Shami 5 and Jaspreet Bumrah were dismissed for four runs. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten after scoring 15 runs. Earlier on the second day of the match, India lost the wickets of Prithvi Shaw (14), Mayank Agarwal (3), Cheteshwar Pujara (24), captain Virat Kohli (14), Ajinkya Rahane (9) and Umesh Yadav (1).
