BJP’s magic works its magic in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election Result 2022| The results of the much-awaited election results are out. In five out of four states, BJP has marked it victory. Uttar Pradesh has been in potboilers and one of the most crucial states. The ruling party has managed to get re-elected. It is the first time in 30 years that some party has been able to work this magic.

From the 403 seats in the state, BJP has bagged 274 seats. The political party had managed a clean sweep in 2017. Even in the results that have been announced today, the party has been able to maintain a healthy lead from its competitors.

While BJP has maintained its lead, the Samajwadi Party (SP) too put up a good show. The party managed to gain a healthy 10% increase from its show in 2017. The party’s vote share has swelled in Uttar Pradesh to 31.8%. At one point, during the polling stage, it seemed that it will be a close competition between SP and BJP but the party will have to be content with this.

Congress and BSP are the two parties that lost their vote share. The share for both the parties went down by as much as 18%. 4% of this share too went to BJP’s account. While SP has lapped up 14% of this share.

Another big point for BJP’s victory was that it marked good gains in the western, northeastern, Doab and Bundelkhand regions. The Yogi-led party made good inroads in these regions and their margins were as healthy as 12 to 15 per cent.

Despite the challenges in the state, Uttar Pradesh has again cast its vote in favour of Yogi. It is to be seen how the next five years pan out for the party and state.
