Lucknow: It was the UP legislative assembly polls when the election got bipolar. Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) were one on one. Just after that polls, legislative council elections are on, and again it is BJP Vs SP only. The rest of the political parties are either with them only or not in the scene.
In the UP Legislative Council, there are 36 seats from the local bodies’ quota. Elections are on for them. BJP and SP have prominently fielded their candidates against each other. Political parties like Congress and BSP decided to stay away from these polls. BJP and SP have also allotted seats to their alliance partners.

Congress decided not to contest elections of the legislative council. In July, congress’ alone member Deepak Singh will retire from the post. Udayveer’s nomination papers snatched
SP’s candidate Udayveer Singh’s nomination paper was snatched, while he was on the way to file nomination on Monday. It was the last day of the nomination. SP leaders have asked the election commission to take the incident into their cognizance. They are still demanding to increase the time for nomination so that he contest the election.
