Patna: In the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections, 52.24 percent polling was completed in 71 seats in 16 districts amidst sporadic violence under tight security.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that 52.24 percent votes were cast in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections till 5 pm. I thank the voters of Bihar who voted under these circumstances. I also thank the Bihar administration, who made such elaborate arrangements in view of the covid.

During the Corona epidemic, the first phase of Bihar elections also saw a great enthusiasm among the voters. Voters were seen waiting in line at the polling booths. Long queues of voters had started appearing at polling stations since morning.

Voters were seen following social distances with masks and globs. At the same time, thermal screening of voters was being done before entering the polling stations. However, at some booths, the Corona Guide Line was also seen to be violated. On the one hand, supporters of different candidates clashed in many seats, while three died in three different places.
