New Delhi: The farmers’ agitation continues with the new agricultural laws of the central government. A four-member committee was formed by the Supreme Court to end the deadlock between the government and the farmers. From this committee, Bhupendra Singh Mann, the national president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union and the chairman of the All India Farmers Coordination Committee, has distanced itself.
Only after the committee was formed, the farmers were opposing Bhupinder Singh Mann’s name. He said that Bhupinder Singh Mann had already supported all three agricultural laws.
Bhupendra Singh Mann issued a statement saying that I am thankful to the Supreme Court for nominating me to a 4-member committee to initiate negotiations with farmer unions on agricultural laws. As a farmer and union leader myself, I cannot compromise the interests of Punjab or the farmers, given the prevailing sentiments and apprehensions between the farm unions and the general public. I am removing myself from the committee and I will always stand with my farmers and Punjab.
