Ban on export of Remdesivir medicine till Corona situation improves

New Delhi: In view of the huge increase in Corona cases, the government has banned the export of injection Remdesivir and Remdesivir Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The Center has taken this step to ensure easy access of Remdesivir for patients and hospitals. It is important to note that there are constant reports of shortage of this medicine across the country, due to which black marketing has also increased. This prohibition will remain until the condition of corona in the country improves.

According to the central government, due to sudden increase in corona cases, the need for Remdesivir injection has increased and further it will be needed for the patients of Corona, due to which its export has been banned. Seven Indian companies produce Remdesivir injection. These companies have a production capacity of 38.80 lakh units every month. All domestic manufacturers have been advised to display the information about the stock of Remdesivir injection, its distribution etc. on their websites.
