A day after eluding the cops, Ashish Mishra reported to the Crime Branch office in Lakhimpur Kheri. Before his appearance, Ashish Mishra’s legal counsel, Awadhesh Kumar, was quoted as saying, “Ashish Mishra will appear before the police today.” Before Ashish Mishra’s appearance on Saturday, the police increased security around Teni’s residence and the Lakhimpur Kheri police lines. When he was summoned as a witness by the police on Friday, Ashish Mishra did not show up.

Due to ‘health concerns,’ the union minister then stated that his son could not report to the police. Due to his non-appearance, the UP police posted a new notice outside the minister’s house, requesting that his son Ashish Mishra come before them on October 9 for questioning. Even though the “brutal” episode left eight people dead, the Supreme Court on Friday chastised the Uttar Pradesh government for not arresting Ashish Mishra quickly.
Ashish Mishra was arrested for murder in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. According to the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of many farmers’ unions, Ashish Mishra arrived with three cars when farmers were leaving the helipad after staging a demonstration against the three-government farm legislation and mowed down farmers.

However, Ajay and Ashish Mishra denied SKM’s claims, claiming that their son was not there at the time of the occurrence. Meanwhile, in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, Uttar Pradesh police apprehended two suspects who claimed to be close aides of Ashish Mishra. Luvkush and Ashish Pandey, the two individuals apprehended, have been identified.
