New Delhi: Two more militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday. With this, the number of terrorists killed in the night-long encounter has increased to three. A police official said that security forces started a siege operation on Thursday morning in the Meez of Pompore area of South Kashmir after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
He said that the operation turned into an encounter after the firing of militants on security forces. The force also gave a befitting reply to their firing, in which one terrorist was killed on Thursday and two others entered a mosque.
The officer said that the force surrounded the mosque overnight. On Friday morning, security forces also fired tear gas shells to drive the terrorists out of the mosque, officials said. Later, the force killed the terrorists while maintaining the sanctity of the religious site.
