According to Thakur, “I’m aware that the people of Baghpat are unfamiliar with riots and only believe in them. You know how to sell sports; you don’t know politics, but what could be better than a political animal promoting sports?

Later, speaking to reporters, Thakur praised MP Khel Mahakumbh, saying, “BJP MPs have carried forward Modi ji’s thinking because after the Olympics, the country wants to promote sports and sportspersons, and if every BJP MP has carried forward Modi ji’s thinking, the country will promote sports and sportspersons.” If the MPs go in this path, it will be a fresh beginning in and of itself. If MPs from throughout the nation conduct an event like this, the players will have an opportunity to speak up.
