Ammonia gas leak at IFFCO plant in Prayagraj, two officers died

Prayagraj: Two officers were killed while 12 other employees were admitted to tge hospital after leakage in the Ammonia plant in the urea unit of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited(IFFCO) here in Phulpur area.

The incident occured around mid night , officials here on Wednesday confirmed.

After the leakage was detected 14 employees and officials were rushed to the hospital where assistant manager V P Singh and Deputy manager Abhayanand succumbed while treatment .

Condition of couple among 12 were critical , sources said .A probe has been ordered by the authorities.

Superintendent of police (Gangapar) Dhaval Jaiswal confirned about the incident and death of 2 officials in the mishap.

Meanwhile Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe into the incident of leakage of ammonia gas at IFFCO plant in Prayagraj.

In a statement , Yogi Adityanath has directed the district authorities to ensure all relief work and proper treatment to the affected employees.
