Akhilesh Yadav Organizes Vijay Rath Yatra at Purvanchal Expressway

The opening of the Purvanchal Expressway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, November 16, also provided fodder for a political brawl in Uttar Pradesh’s upcoming election, as both the ruling BJP and the opposition SP claimed credit for the project. In response to the BJP’s Tuesday inauguration, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said that on Wednesday, November 17, he would organise a Vijay Rath Yatra on the Purvanchal Expressway. Tomorrow, the former UP CM will speak at a gathering near the airfield.

The SP head would also hold Sabhas at several sites along the road, according to reports. Before PM Modi’s inauguration, some Samajwadi Party activists rode on the highway and showered flowers on it in a symbolic ‘inaugural.’ On the same day as the PM’s ceremony, SP personnel cycled to various spots along the freeway to conduct the inauguration. Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party administration led by CM Yogi for displaying projects developed by the previous (SP) government the day before.

Akhilesh Yadav has also claimed that he could not visit the Expressway because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was due to open it. The SP chairman also said that he and his workers would march to the Expressway to oppose the project. Nobody could stop him and his colleagues from riding their bicycles down the highway, he said. On Tuesday, November 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) magnificent air show at Purvanchal Expressway in Karwal Kheri, Sultanpur.

For opening the new Purvanchal Expressway, which connects Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital, to Ghazipur, the state’s eastern district, the Indian Air Force staged an airshow. Roller landings by Mirage 2000s, Jaguars, and Sukhoi Su-30 MKIs were featured during the airshow. On the national highway, the Purvanchal Expressway goes from Chaudsarai village in Lucknow district to hamlet Hydaria, 18 kilometres east of the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border (NH-731).
