According to sources, the meeting took place at Shivpal’s house on Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow, which is about 400 metres away from Akhilesh’s. It is gathered that during his over-an-hour visit at his uncle’s house, Akhilesh had a 20-minute closed-door discussion with him.

For a long time, there have been hints that SP and PSP should be paired. Shivpal Singh Yadav is spending two days in the capital. In the meanwhile, the two have scheduled a meeting. According to family sources, it was arranged that both of them would sit at a table and eat dinner on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Shivpal Singh Yadav’s home.

There was a lengthy discussion on whether to form an alliance or merge during this time. Shivpal Singh Yadav conducted a meeting with party office bearers at his office while SP President Akhilesh Yadav was engaged in the party headquarters. Shivpal Singh Yadav recommended the merger during this meeting. They went for their home with their permission.

SP President Akhilesh Yadav arrived at his house about four o’clock in the evening. Breakfast was shared by the two of them. Following the meeting, Akhilesh Yadav tweeted that he had met with the PSP’s national president and that the partnership had been decided. The SP is constantly strengthened by its policy of bringing regional parties onboard.

SP President Akhilesh Yadav has expressed interest in forming an alliance, although Shivpal Singh Yadav is also open to the idea. The seat-sharing arrangement has yet to be revealed, but insiders in both parties claim that 15 to 20 members of Shivpal Singh Yadav’s faction can run on the cycle symbol.

“There was a meeting with PSP national president and an alliance was agreed,” Akhilesh tweeted after the meeting, including a portrait of Shivpal and a sentence in Hindi. The tactic of bringing in regional parties is continually boosting SP and leading it and its supporters to a historic victory.”

Akhilesh has established alliances with the Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Mahan Dal, and Janwadi Socialist Party, all of whom include non-Yadav OBC castes as supporters. The party has also formed an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), a party popular among farmers and Jats in western Uttar Pradesh. However, no agreement on seat-sharing has been reached with any of these parties. The SP’s control over its traditional Yadav voters would be strengthened by its alliance with Shivpal. Shivpal was elected MLA from Jaswantnagar in Etawah in the 2017 Assembly elections under the SP banner.
