MUMBAI: The Uddhav government of Maharashtra made a major reshuffle in the Mumbai Police overnight and transferred 86 officers and employees . Of these, 65 officers are from the Mumbai Crime Branch, including the Assistant Inspector of Police, who was questioned by the NIA in the Sachin Waze case.
A police officer in the city said API Riazuddin Qazi, a colleague of Waze in the Crime Intelligence Unit, has been sent to the local arms unit, which is a relatively less important department. He said that 65 officers of the Mumbai Crime Branch have been transferred.
Earlier in the evening, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Actually the Home Department is facing questions in the Waze case. Also, allegations of corruption are being made against Deshmukh.
In total, 65 officers of the Mumbai Crime Branch alone were evacuated, some of whom belonged to the traffic department, the police officer said. Qazi was questioned by the NIA. The NIA is investigating a case related to the recovery of a Scorpio near Mukesh Ambani’s house. Waze has been arrested in the case.
