New Delhi: After about 18 months, 4G mobile Internet services in Jammu and Kashmir have been restored. This information was given by Principal Secretary (Power and Information) of the Union Territory, Rohit Kansal on the evening of Friday 5 February. Kansal gave a twit information that 4G mobile internet services are being started all over Jammu and Kashmir. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir State Omar Abdullah expressed happiness by tweeting and said that the delay was better than never.
Internet service was stopped in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370 from August 5, 2019, about two years ago. The Union Territory (UT) administration later started high-speed internet services in some districts over postpaid SIM services. After this, before the UT District Polls in November, the administration had decided to introduce high-speed internet data in Ganderbal and Udhampur districts. In the remaining districts, only 2G data was approved because on the basis of inputs from security agencies, it was feared that some terrorists might try to disturb peace in UT.
