Joe Diffie has died from COVID-19 complications

NASHVILLE: GRAMMY-winning country music legend Joe Diffie passed away Sunday from complications of coronavirus (COVID-19).

On Friday, Diffie revealed he had been diagnosed with COVID-19. Diffie, a Tulsa native, had more than 20 Top 10 hits to his name and released 13 albums.

He also wrote songs for Tim McGraw, Conway Twitty, and Jo Dee Messina. Diffie was 61 years old.

One of Diffie’s best-known crossover songs was “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox.” Another prominent hit was “John Deere Green.”

His family respects their privacy at this time.

In a statement on Friday, Diffie said, “I am under the care of medical professionals and currently receiving treatment.”

He added, “we want to remind the public and all my fans to be vigilant, cautious and careful during this pandemic.”
