Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, a power couple, swept the board at the 69th annual Filmfare Awards for their roles in last year’s flicks. Ranbir Kapoor was named Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) at Sunday’s event in Gujarat for his work in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film Animal. Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) went to Alia Bhatt for her performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, a love family drama directed by Karan Johar.
The historical drama 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and starring Atlee Kumar, was won Best Film after a hard fight. The other nominees were Animal, Jawan, OMG 2, Pathaan, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Rocky.
Meanwhile, Filmfare readers chose Devashish Makhija’s Joram as the Best Film (Critics’). Regarding the actors, reviewers voted Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) , Rani Mukerji (Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway) best. Each received the prestigious Black Lady award.
There were breathtaking red carpet entrances, hypnotic performances, and inspiring victorious moments during the event, which was hosted by television broadcasters Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Maniesh Paul.
