Some days back, Vivek shared a news article with the headline read: ‘Films like Kantara and Pushpa are destroying the industry: Anurag Kashyap.’ As a response to the article, Vivek said that he totally disagrees with Anurag’s views. Several users on the internet even pointed out to Vivek that the headline was not in sync with what Anurag wanted to say.
Anurag Kashyap had told a media outlet that movies like Sairat actually disrupted Marathi cinema as, after the tremendous success of the film, everyone wanted to make similar films to make more money. He also said how movies like Kantara and Pushpa actually give the courage to filmmakers to tell stories and not depend on the success formulas. He also shared how KGF 2 despite being too successful, if becomes replicated again in different movies would head to disaster. The same happened with Bollywood as well as the films were not courageous and they destroyed themselves by repeating the same formulaic stories.
Anurag’s last released film was Dobaaraa, which featured Taapsee Pannu. It went on to receive mixed reviews. His next movie will be Almost Pyaar With Dj Mohabbat, featuring Alaya F and Karan Mehta. On the other hand, Vivek is working on the production of his next movie The Vaccine War. His notable movie The Kashmir Films received a roaring success at the box office and even among people’s minds.
There is a lot of debate going on about Bollywood facing backlash and having a dead year after the coronavirus pandemic at the box office. The year saw very few films getting good responses and even big stars like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar were written off as their movie releases didn’t live up to the audience’s expectations. Whereas, South Indian movies coming from Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada languages are getting more acclaim and positive response from the audience.
Many Bollywood actors and directors have shared their views that how Bollywood is not dying and there are more films lined up that will be released next year and will show the film industry’s success and growth. Whereas, there are some people in the industry who don’t like South Indian films and actors getting compared with the Hindi cinema.
