Mumbai: Neeru Yadav was delighted to be on the hot seat of the 15th season of the reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati – KBC. The great thing about the achievement for Neeru was that she was not a contestant or participant but got the opportunity to be the chief guest of the show. The show’s episode was aired on Sony TV on 11 September 2023 at 9 pm.
For the unversed, Neeru Yadav is the Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Lambi Ahir of Buhana sub-division of Rajasthan. She became Sarpanch after attaining victory in the Rajasthan Panchayat elections 2020. Due to her amazing contribution to the welfare of the people in society and her sincere work in the upliftment of the education sector, Neeru Yadav was called to be the chief guest at KBC. Neeru is credited for improving the quality of lives of people living in the Jhunjhunu village by taking several important steps.
Interestingly, Neeru Yadav won an amount of Rs 6 lakhs and 40 thousand Indian rupees, and guess what? She has decided that she will utilize the money won from KBC in the areas of women empowerment and girl child education.
You would be surprised to know that Neeru Yadav is popularly known as “hockey wali sarpanch” in her village for taking the initiative to set up a girls’ hockey team. Reports mention that she had contributed two years of her salary to set up and establish a hockey team. It is due to her hard work and sincere efforts that village daughters Preeti, Pooja, and Sonu, among others were able to make it to the Jhunjhun district hockey team. They also took part in the state-level competition in 2022.
It is not just with the hockey team but Sarpanch Neeru Yadav also understood the problem of using plastic in wedding ceremonies or other functions held in the village that was causing environmental damage. It was also threatening the lives of cows.
Thus, in order to make the Gram Panchayat plastic-free, Neeru got 5000 utensils and set up a utensil bank in the village. Interestingly, these utensils can be used on rent at nominal rates for celebrating any function or event in the village.
Recently, Neeru Yadav also came up with another campaign called ‘Mera Ped Mera Dost’. Under this campaign, Gram Panchayat Lambi Ahir will be distributing 21,000 saplings to the students and staff members in government schools of Buhana tehsil, and they will be encouraged to care for the saplings to allow them to grow and promote greenery.
Neeru Yadav was found playing hockey with megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
