Why freelancing has become the trending work sector in 2022

EducationWhy freelancing has become the trending work sector in 2022

Date:

The time has come when employers are facing a dearth of talented employees in their organization just because of the way they used to treat their employees all these years. Nowadays, employees are in no mood to settle for anything less from their permanent workplace. Employers don’t have that control or dominance over their employees that used to be there in the olden times.

India should have made the semis with the kind of talent in the team: Mamatha Maben

I still remember my dad used to work for an automobile company for longer hours than the fixed working hours just because his boss wanted it to. He even took a pay cut when the company started facing huge losses in sales due to the competition in the market. He was a tolerant guy who saw it all and faced it all in his 40+ years of work journey. His determination to stay with one company no matter what made him really look like a rockstar to me. However, those times have changed when we can stick to one company for a longer period of time or even tolerate the wrong decisions by the employers.

This has led to talented and skilled employees leaving the marketplace of permanent jobs and settling up with freelance or gig jobs for their survival. That the company will provide maternity or paternity leave, EPF, pension, bonus, allowances, etc. don’t attract the skilled workforce anymore who think that time has come for them to rise above the other crowds. Freelancers or self-employed professionals are more on the rise especially after the coronavirus lockdowns were imposed in the nation and the world.

You would be amazed to know that freelancers are exploring various websites and mentioning the rate for their hourly or part-time work with full confidence and grit that the right kind of employer will surely give them the right remuneration and work experience. It is indeed true as companies who laid off several permanent or contractual staff just to save money or recover the losses are posting new jobs on every job website to get freelance workers for their upcoming projects.

You can find freelance jobs or gigs in social media marketing, content writing, IT, HR recruitment, administration, data entry, digital marketing, SEO, consulting, coaching, and various other domains like never before. Go through any top job website like Naukri or Indeed and you will find hundreds of jobs being posted on them by companies looking for freelance workers. Although some jobs become repetitive there are several good employers that one can contact through the job portals if they want good freelance gigs.

After all, nowadays people are talented and educated as well. The rising depression cases due to working in the 9 am to 6 pm corporate or private sector jobs are making people quit their jobs for creating a better lifestyle where they can fulfill their dreams by living on simple means and also working to earn their bread and butter. Smaller and micro-businesses are being launched by freelancers or self-employed professionals as they want to be someone who has driven the economy with the right ways of doing the business rather than following the rigid or fixed management styles.
