Many times bosses get agitated or tensed when their staff underperforms at the workplace. There are several reasons for employees to not give the committed work on time, which can be personal or professional as well. If you are an owner or boss of any type of company, it is obvious that you won’t share good feelings with your staff when they keep underperforming or delivering incomplete work. Here are some ways how you can manage this delicate relationship with a pro attitude:

1) Don’t scream or shout:

It may look unprofessional on your side if you start banging the tables or insulting the employees who are not working properly. Instead of scolding or hurling abuses at your employees, be patient and try to understand the situation that led to the work getting delayed. It can be personal or professional. Like the computer may not have worked well or there would be an internet issue or the employees’ personal issues may have cropped up again and again, thus demotivating them to deliver to the world. Whatever may be the reason, be willing to listen and find proper solutions.

2) Maintain a calm attitude:

If your employees are unable to deliver the work despite you making efforts to solve their issues, it literally means you need to develop a friendly relationship with your staff. The calmer and more patient you deal with your employees, the more trust you will gain from them, which will help you to delegate work accordingly.

3) Give them the work that they can do:

If you have been asking a finance passionate person to write articles for you, then there would have been some career confusion that you need to solve. You can instead get better employees who are good at doing what they can and make transfers of employees based on their knowledge, likeness, passion, interests, and skills of course.

4) Set the right example:

Many times employees follow leaders’ way of working. So in case you have been a boss who is known to not walk the talk and not fulfill the promises, you will attract a set of employees who follow the same practice. So, how about changing the leadership style and introducing the right work culture where the leader works and inspires his subordinates to give their best.

5) Talk and interact on a regular basis:

Many times employees feel disconnected from the workplace if their boss doesn’t show any interest in their professional progress. How about introducing workshops and seminars for your employees to know the latest trends in the industry and how they can acquire those skills to perform better. You can even have a group-chatting session on WhatsApp wherein each employee reports their work progress and in exchange, you appreciate them for whatever contribution they have done to the organization.

Last but not the least, remove the toxic elements from your workplace. If you have been hiring the wrong employees who are known to only create chaos and doubts at work, then it is the right time to remove them and replace them with like-minded employees who are committed to their goals.
