When pending work piles up on your table

EducationWhen pending work piles up on your table

Date:

Well, the term “table” has been replaced by the files on the laptop or computer nowadays. But the meaning is the same when pending work piles up, either your table or the desktop screen of your laptop really looks bad. So, how do you manage this “pending” work that is creating a headache for you? Well, it is all about time management. If you have been a person who says yes to each and everything that has been asked from you, then you are bound to add the pending tasks to your list.

Here are some ways how you can reduce your pending tasks and work with a fresh mindset:

1) Learn to say NO:

Many times we think that we can do this and that, but ideally, we are unable to even do what we are having currently. That’s because we aim high but we lack the resources to finish off the tasks. This makes us really vulnerable and we end up pleasing others. So, if your mother-in-law is telling you that the house is unclean especially after you have slogged really hard to keep things in the right manner, learn to tell her NO. Tell her that you cannot keep doing things as per her demand and wish and you have other priorities in your life to fulfill which are more important to you than her perfectionist ideas of house management. This will also allow you to get enough time to do your official tasks or other work that you have kept pending in your life.

2) Find time for yourself:

You may wonder how can taking time out for yourself will help you complete the pending tasks. Your stress levels will keep rising if you keep doing things that are beyond your control and limitations. This will make it difficult for you to focus on the task at hand, thus making you delay things. You will find yourself stuck up in your life and thus, you need to take care of your mind and health first so that you get the required energy to finish off the pending work.

3) Assign a task manager:

You can use work management apps or write a to-do list in your emails and keep working only for specific durations. Don’t overdo anything as this will make you work more and thus, give you less time to do other work. Instead, focus on the completion of work with the task manager and assign possible time for each task. It will allow you to complete the work and remove all the pending files from your desk.

Last but not the least, if you really lack the energy and resources to finish the pending tasks, you can hire an assistant or a helping hand who can support you to complete all the tasks in a timely manner. It can be a part-time assistant or a freelancer or a friend who can aid you from the crisis of work incompletion. Hope this article helps you to gain a new perspective on work management.
