An engaged workforce is managing the performance of the employees effectively. An engaged workforce can be both qualitative and quantitative. The relationship between the employer and employee goes through many ups and downs. There can be no exact definition of an ideal employer and employee relationship because it depends on person to person.
Engaged employees are usually enthusiastic about their work and willing to give their best by learning new tasks attentively. The engaged employees contribute to the overall performance of the team and they feel supported by the organization. However, disengaged employees are the ones who are frustrated with the job and the company and thus, do only their tasks and are short of ideas for transforming the workplace. Thus, one can say if the employees are highly engaged with their work then one can expect more productivity and high morale of the company. When employees are excited about their job they feel like doing more and giving quality output. They are motivated and look forward to ideas of innovation in their work and overall company.
For example, Shilpa and Radha work together in the same team in a ABC company. The company had assigned both the employees similar tasks to be completed within a particular timeframe. Shilpa completed the work and submitted it to the team leader while Radha not only completed the given work but also shared her ideas on how the work process can be improved for better results. Shilpa was confused about how come Radha felt the need to suggest the ideas whereas, even though knowing the same ideas didn’t feel like suggesting the same to her team leader. It is because Radha found liking towards her work and the company and thus, thought about innovation in her work. She was engaged with her work and knew how to contribute to the organization in a better manner.
