Usually, you might have leaders or bosses telling their employees to not have a fixed mindset and focus on developing a growth mindset for their employees or co-workers. So, let us understand what is this growth mindset all about? A growth mindset is when you try something new and fail, yet you do not worry over failure but instead acknowledge yourself for experimenting in a new area and giving your efforts again and again till you succeed.
A growth mindset is indeed required nowadays in both personal and professional spheres of life. We will discuss here how a person having a growth mindset enjoys successful relations both at personal and professional lives. Hari was hired by a bank to look after its online marketing activities. Hari had graduated in commerce and certification in digital marketing that helped him land a job in a bank. Hari was happy with the benefits and perks that a bank employee gets with a fixed set of work and timings, unlike other private sector or business employees. However, over a period of time, Hari started feeling dissatisfied with his job, not because he was lacking in performing his duties but because he was feeling bored with the monotonous work. Hari decided to speak to his manager and inform him of quitting the work to set up his own digital marketing consulting firm. His manager warned him that he would not get the kind of growth and stability that a bank job provides but Hari had a growth mindset wherein he wanted to now stand on his feet and be independent in grabbing the work projects.
In the first year of business, Hari spent up all the savings that he had gained through his earlier job but couldn’t get any work. However, he didn’t lose hope and instead tried connecting with more people through his network and started helping small businesses to market their products or services online.
This helped Hari get a foothold in the industry, thus eventually getting him good projects from the MSME sector, and in a span of five years, Hari started earning a good revenue and better projects. Hari decided to meet his bank manager where he started his career first and shared that he failed endless times when he set up his business but the mindset to keep trying despite failures and keep growing the skills helped him become a successful professional today. This made his bank manager become a friend of Hari and take inspiration from his ideas and thoughts.
