Tips to start a career with no relevant work experience

After working from home for more than a year and managing video meetings and also trying to finish off housework, many employees are planning to start a new career and introduce a change in their existing career options. Changing your career or even looking for a new job in these pandemic times are quite challenging and the journey won’t be really smooth. In this job market, the demand for skills and expertise is higher as compared to other nations. So, if you want to leave your existing profession and transition to a completely new career and job then don’t worry much as nothing is impossible and all you need is encouragement, preparation, drive, and extra focus.

1) Create an interesting story about your life and career that will lure employers towards your profile. You need to convince yourself first of the reasons you are taking the risk to start a new career with completely no relevant work experience. Once you are convinced and confident about your decision, you will easily be able to lay a solid foundation for your new career and contribute to the company’s needs despite having no prior experience in the industry.

2) The biggest mistake that people make when they decide to change their profession is they do not research well. Researching and collecting information doesn’t mean only on the internet but actually talking to few professionals who are already in their career having spent many numbers of years and know the ifs, buts, low and high phases of being employed in a particular position in a specific company. You need to interact with them and put yourself in their situation and understand how you will manage or react if the same thing happens to you.

3) Keep trying even if you find failures for a long period. There is no point in not exploring the area of your interest if you find backlashes or criticism to follow your passion. You need to be determined and make sure to take a test drive to your new career before you decide to take the leap. Volunteering or working under someone as a project assistant can give you the hands-on experience to know what you are good at and carry forward the same while seeing your new job.
