Education Desk – Right now, India is experiencing contrasting weather patterns. Some states experience extreme heat waves while other states have torrential rainfall. To keep this in mind, several states extended summer breaks for students. This decision is taken to prevent children’s health and the safety of students.

Tamil Nadu
Schools in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai and many other districts have declared holidays as a result of heavy rains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said heavy rainfall in 13 Tamil Nadu districts, including Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Perambalur, and Tiruchi, through June 20. Parents are advised to contact the appropriate institution’s administration until June 20.
Uttar Pradesh
Schools in Uttar Pradesh have extended summer break to June 26 due to the effects of the recent heat wave. First, the school was reponed on June 15 but the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council advised to close schools until June 26 and reopen on June 27.
Madhya Pradesh
The Department of School Education in Madhya Pradesh also extends summer break for schools. Classes 1-5 are scheduled to resume on July 1 while 6- 12 on June 20. According to education minister Inder Singh Parmar from June 20 to June 30, Classes 6 to 12 took place in the morning shift.
Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh government has also extended summer break for students until June 26 due to extreme heat waves. Initially, the schools were supposed to resume on June 16. This decision was taken due to increasing temperatures.
Besides that, states like Bihar and Jharkhand reopened their schools on June 18 and Odisha extended summer break by June 21.
