As the COVID situation eased, officials in Jharkhand authorised schools, colleges, and institutions to resume on Tuesday (February 1, 2022).
Schools will resume for all classes in 17 districts. In the remaining seven districts with the highest number of COVID cases — Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Deoghar, Saraikela, Simdega, and Bokaro — schools will reopen for classes 9 to 12.

The decisions were made at a State Disaster Management Authority meeting on Monday, which was headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
According to an official announcement, higher education institutions such as colleges, universities, and ITIs were also allowed to reopen.
On January 3, the Jharkhand government reinstated Covid-related restrictions, closing all educational institutions and tourism attractions and limiting office attendance to 50%.
The administration also allowed gyms and swimming pools to reopen, as well as spectator-free sporting activities at stadiums.
The government lifted the limit on meetings, allowing up to 200 persons to attend.
According to the announcement, permission was also granted for an offline competitive examination.
On Monday, Jharkhand saw a decrease in Covid-19 cases, with 733 persons testing positive, 305 fewer than the previous day.

The death toll has maintained at 5,300 people, with no new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
Ranchi, the state capital, had the most new infections with 206, followed by East Singhbhum with 172.
