Due to sudden increase in coronavirus cases, schools in Nashik have been closed till 4 January 2021.
Senior NCP leader and district guardian minister Chhagan Bhujbal held a meeting with district collector Suraj Mandhare, Nashik police commissioner Deepak Pandey and Superintendent of Police Sachin Patil to come up with the decision.
Chhagan Bhujbal said even if the schools are reopened now, they will function for 18 days. There will be batches with each set attending schools only for 9 days.
Since more than 40 teachers have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus, a decision about reopening schools in the district will be taken after the holidays of Christmas festive season.
Nashik district’s COVID-19 count recently was 98,629, including 1,765 deaths, while 94,253 people have been discharged.
