Mumbai civic body encourages schools to continue online classes

The Maharashtra state education department is yet to launch a detailed plan on the reopening of schools in red zones areas across the state.

This is because Maharashtra is the number one state in India to have maximum number of coronavirus cases in the country.

Hence, the civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s education department has encouraged schools to provide textbooks to children in Mumbai and continue online classes till 30 June 2020.

In a notification released recently, the department says all civic and government-aided primary schools in the city to follow social distancing norms and call one parent at a time to collect the textbooks of children from the school premises.

The notification has also recommended school teachers under civic body to resume work for completion of the book distribution process. Remaining time, the teachers can continue online teaching through messaging apps, live videos, recorded lessons etc until June 30.
