Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has announced that universities in the state will not be conducting any exams for students who are currently in their final year. Such final year students will be promoted based on their past performance.
This gives a sigh of relief to lakhs of final year students in Maharashtra who were awaiting for an update about their future career. As the lockdown has been extended in the state till 30 June, the education department has no choice but to promote such students and announce final-year results according to the aggregate marks scored by the students in the earlier semesters.
In case, final-year students feel dissatisfied with such results and feel they can score better marks, then such students can appear for the exams that will be held in October – November 2020, winter session.
The move came after Thackeray met state governor and chancellor of all state universities to figure out a solution to the pending final-year examination.
